Martin Luther King, Jr.

Our DVA Eagles are continually growing in character. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., is a wonderful example of character in both word and action. It was inspiring to visit the MLK monument on my recent visit to Washington DC for our 2021 National Blue Ribbon Schools celebration.

Here are a few favorite quotes by MLK:

“I have decided to stick with love. Hate is too great a burden to bear.”

“Love is the only force capable of transforming an enemy into friend.”

“Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.”

“If you can’t fly then run, if you can’t run then walk, if you can’t walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward.”

“Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, ‘What are you doing for others?'”

“Everybody can be great because everybody can serve.”

“Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.”

We are so proud of these DVA Eagles for earning the character award for responsibility!

  • Do what you are supposed to do
  • Plan ahead
  • Persevere: Keep on trying!
  • Always do your best
  • Use self-control
  • Think before you act-consider the consequences
  • Be accountable for your words, actions, and attitudes
  • Set a good example for others

DVA Eagles are demonstrating responsibility on a daily basis. Our character always counts!

Sock Drive

DVA Eagles will be collecting new socks during the week of November 29-December 3. Socks of all sizes are welcome and DVA Eagles will donate the sock collection to local charities. Let’s do this, DVA Eagles!
