Every Hero Needs a Squad

Our Pennies for Patients 2019 Campaign is officially off to a great start. Our theme this year is: Every Hero Needs a Squad. Each year, DVA raises money, through our Pennies for Patients program, for the Leukemia Lymphoma Society. In the past several years, DVA has contributed over $100,000 to LLS in the fight against blood cancers. This year, our school-wide goal is $12,000. Each classroom has set a goal of $300.

We have built in some incentives for our students:
$5000: Mrs. Weigel will spend the day “wheeling” around the school
$10,000: The students will vote on a color to dye Mrs. Weigel’s hair
$12,000: All school assembly where the teachers will silly string Mrs. Weigel. A check, from DVA, will be presented to LLS.
The winning class: Mrs. Weigel will teach the class. The teacher will be treated to a few hours off campus; including coffee, muffins and a massage!

Digital Communication

DVA is continually looking for ways to do our part in conserving resources. We realize that fliers, announcements, calendars, etc are often discovered crumpled up in the bottom of a backpack. Therefore, we plan to reduce our use of paper, and improve communication, by sending schoolwide fliers, calendars, announcements, etc. through our digital platform, Remind. Thank you for supporting our efforts to reduce waste!

National School Choice Week 2019

Why do we celebrate National School Choice Week? School choice means giving parents access to the best K-12 education options for their children. These options include traditional public schools, public charter schools, and public magnet schools, private schools, online academies, and homeschooling.

DVA staff would like to thank you for making Desert View Academy your school of choice! Check out our video: NSCW 2019: Time to dance!
